- The latest MIUI China builds may have revealed the new Xiaomi foldable phone.
- Images show the folding design and the camera placement of the phone.
- The device is reportedly codenamed zizhan and may have the same display as the Mi 10.
Xiaomi announced its first foldable phone in March last year, and since then, rumors have been flying around about a successor. However, today, we have gotten our first glimpse at what the Chinese phone maker has in store.
XDA member Kacper Skrzypek has spotted images of Xiaomi’s next foldable within the latest MIUI China builds. We don’t see much except for the outline of the phone and an animation of how it opens and closes. However, we get a sense of the overall design and camera placement.
The phone seems to have a square camera bump at the back, unlike the rectangular one on the Mi Mix Fold. There’s also a center-placed punch hole camera on the external display of the device. The new Xiaomi foldable once again features a Galaxy Fold-style form factor with an in-folding display.
Skrzypek also revealed that the device is codenamed “zizhan.” MIUI code further suggests that the phone might share the same display as the Mi 10. So it’s possible that the outer screen is an AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ support. However, it’s too early to speculate, and we could very well see a display with a higher refresh rate or a different screen size compared to the Mi 10.
Leaker Digital Chat Station previously suggested that the new Mix Fold could get a 6.5-inch outer screen and an 8-inch inner display. The folding panel of the phone is also tipped to be more crease-resistant.
The Mi Mix Fold launched with the Snapdragon 888 at its helm. So it makes sense that the new model will upgrade to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Word has it that the phone will feature the rumored successor of Qualcomm’s top-end chip, namely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
